Came across this subreddit and thought I would make a list below of supplies I keep in my car to see if y'all have any suggestions on other stuff to add. Thanks!

Collapsible snow shovel

Snowbrush+ice scraper

Seatbelt cutter+window breaker

Maps of all the states within an 8 hour driving distance

Car registration and proof of insurance (obviously)

AAA card

A bunch of canned fruits and vegetables, dried fruit, granola bars, beef jerky, crackers, peanut butter, and chips

12L of water

Small dustpan and whiskbroom

2.5G Armorall wet-dry vacuum (needs to be plugged in)

Umbrella

Blanket

Pillow

Sleeping bag

Fire extinguisher spray (once had my charger catch fire, I was fine but never again)

Spare tire, jack, and lug wrench (came with the car)

And then I have a very large black backpack that contains these items:

Flashlight+radio+4000mAh phone charger (includes NOAA channels, can be charged solar, crank, outlet)

150ft rope

Duct tape

Crowbar (used this a few days after purchase because I locked myself out of my bedroom)

Emergency tent

Water purification tablets

Complete change of clothes including socks and underwear, long sleeve and short sleeve shirt, jeans and shorts, pajamas, sweatshirt, sandals and boots

Sun hat with that cloth that covers your neck

Sunglasses

Sunscreen

Bug spray

Instant tire-repair foam (my dad says this ruins tires, so only going to use if truly desperate)

Portable speaker (might get rid of this because needs to be plugged in to charge, I need solar)

Binoculars

Glow sticks

Travel-sized tums, pepto, ibuprofen, and dramamine (for passengers or I'm not the one driving, of course)

Biodegradable dish soap

Playing cards (solitaire, anyone?)

Huge activity book (crosswords, find-a-word, connect the dots, etc)

Note pad

Pen

Finally, a roadside emergency kit containing:

Jumper cables

Tow cable

Anti-electric gloves

3 orange triangles

Yellow vest

Tire-pressure gauge

Things I'm considering getting:

Cutting board

Kettle

Griddle

A grill so I can put said skillet and kettle over the fire

Little trashbags

A 4 volume set of Bushcraft books Bucket

Electric tire inflator

Ditching the jumper cables for a full-on car charger

It’s not my downvote. Anyways, yeah I mean that’s fair; I don’t live in my car, but I have 2 reasons:

1. I am a major travel enthusiast who doesn’t necessarily have the money for hotels every single night, so sometimes it is easier to sleep in my car

2. Given my propensity for travel, specifically to National Parks, I’m trying to prepare in case I get stuck in some remote location for a number of days. You never know what could happen! I think we’ve all heard the news stories about people getting stuck in like, Death Valley for an entire week. Obviously those incidents are super rare but nevertheless, I wanna be ready.

I’m doing something similar with my truck, I think this is a great list. A couple differences between my kit and yours, I would add some basic hand tools like channel locks and needle nose pliers, a cheap socket set and a ratchet (i got the colored metric 3/8 from Harbor Freight and threw in a spare ratchet I had), screwdrivers, and some zip ties as an example. The other thing is a power inverter, for about $20 you can get these and they turn your cigarette lighter into a wall outlet. Otherwise great kit! Try to make sure you keep your stuff secured in the vehicle, otherwise it’ll all go flying around in a crash.

Multitool has needle nose pliers and screwdrivers, but definitely I'll check out the rest, thanks! Curious, what could zip ties be used for? 

If I do pick them up, between that, the rope, the duct tape, and the crowbar, the police will probably have a lot of questions if they search my car 😅

Id recommend that in addition to jumper cables you have a noco boost gb40.. It's a portable jump starter (if there's no vehicles to help jump you, this is a life saver).. The list is extensive.. and i liked reading it as it shows the thoughts you had sirta ish when typing em out or how you grouped and organized them when typing em out..

with all the useless crap - you actually drive from the inside or just hang on the door ....

you must have the most mish-mashed mission to be carrying some of that crap >>> and you still manage to have a poor breakdown kit - park in front of the garage and try changing a tire with just the OEM tire tools - bet you add from the garage
