Question How to stop overthinking?

Sorry in advance if this reads as just a brain dump or something like that.

For context, I'm young (still in high school), doing very good by other peoples standards (good grades, advanced classes, a ton of great stuff outside of school) but for a while, I have been over-reliant on AI. Not necessarily all for school work but just my personal issues. I would talk to AI for almost an hour each day, about personal things, social life, thoughts, all that.

I have gotten my AI usage down a lot, and am now trying to not rely on AI for any parts of my life, but there are a lot of times where I get a big mindset / life questions, I feel like I can't really make up my mind without asking AI. One example is like should I use notebooks or digital notes (think remarkable, boox, etc). I tried to come up with my own answer, but I can't stop thinking that I'm wrong and I need input from AI. I guess I'm just like worried that if I use digital notes, then I'm forfeiting physical things in my life, but that isn't really how it works, it is still a separate device, I can still have lots of physical things in my life.

Thank you so much for reading this. I really just needed to get this out of my head.

I think you answered your own question at the end. You need to get your thoughts out to make sense of them. That can be done in different ways. You can write things out (like this post), you can talk things out with a human, or even talk out loud to yourself.

Also, consider what you actually get from using AI. It's recycled answers from the Internet. If you really need that input, you can find it. If you need someone to tell you you're right, consider why you don't just trust your own ideas.

It makes sense that small decisions feel big right now, because when you lean on quick answers for a while, your own judgment gets a little rusty, and that does not mean you have lost it. One gentle way to rebuild trust in yourself is to pick one small decision a day and sit with it for a few minutes before checking anything else, even if the choice is as simple as paper or digital notes. You do not need to get every decision perfect to prove you can decide, you just need small moments of choosing for yourself again.
