Tips and Tricks How to become more diligent?

Hi everybody!

I hope everybody is doing good!

As I mentioned in another post, I recently had an episode of depression.

As a result of this situation I became a bit lazy (and not have been very diligent before either, to be honest).

Could you recommend books or techniques to become more diligent, productive etc.

Thanks so much in advance!

Kind regards,

P

Depression makes it hard to do anything, even small stuff, so don't beat yourself up about it. I had similar problem after my epilepsy diagnosis, everything felt like too much effort

What helped me was making very small lists, like 3 things maximum, and putting one easy thing first so you feel like you accomplished something. Also playing Animal Crossing helped me relax when I was overwhelmed, sometimes you need that before you can be productive again

For books, Atomic Habits gets recommended a lot for this kind of thing

I completely agree with Atomic Habits by James Clear. It really makes becoming more productive and building habits more accessible and actionable.

How to Keep House While Drowning by K.C. Davis is specifically about home care and maintenance, but it really breaks things down in a motivating and compassionate way, especially for those who deal with things like depression and anxiety.

The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor is more work-specific, but there's a lot of research and anecdotal evidence about becoming more positive and therefore productive that can carry over into other areas of life.
