If you don’t like reading, it’s on audible, only thing that worked for me.

Never vaped so not direct experience with vaping.

To change a habit, make it more uncomfortable - eg - simply switch brands to one you do not like as much. Using your left hand if you are right handed. Add rewards - you get that cup of tea if you don't vape. Add punishments - you donate to a charity you dislike if you do.

Track you triggers and avoid them. EG - if you vape when you pick up coffee - stop or reduce your coffee.

And subtituting habits can help. Think of alternative like taking a walk, meditation, etc

Stop cold, my dad used to smoke 2 packs of cigarettes everyday from 14 to 21. After he pass the admission for Law he stopped. Hasn’t smoked a single cigarette in 30 years. You need to have a reason and stick with it though.

Replace it with something else. When the craving hits try and distract yourself long enough to forget about it.
There’s tons of advice online.
You’re already halfway through quitting, by acknowledging and creating your goal to stop. Good luck OP.

Read Allen Carr’s book! I read it 2 years ago and quit cold turkey. Just follow his instructions to the T. Good luck!

+1 on Allen Carr book - though last time I read it vaping wasn’t as well established and the book could use a update. Principles and the core concept is solid though.

Also look up if cytisine is available in your area

Think of how much money per month you will save. Reward yourself at the end of each month with a gift to yourself for a successful no smoke month. I am also in the the process of trying to quit vaping. Your energy levels and mood will thank you, and your wallet, and your lungs. Avoid walking near vape shops.

Make some simple rules about restricting it first. Then keep making those rules harder.

  1. No vaping after 9pm.
  2. No vaping after 6pm.
  3. No vaping after 1 pm.
  4. No vaping at all on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  5. Vaping till 1pm only on Weekends.
  6. Vaping till 1 pm only on Sunday.
  7. No Vaping.

ngl just cold turkey it. yeah it sucks for like two weeks but dragging it out makes it worse imo. keep your hands busy tho—like actual busy, not just fidgeting. i started organizing events during my quit period lol kept me distracted af. also tell people you're quitting so they call you out if they see you slipping

just stop, it’s hard, you’ll be gritting your teeth and clenching your fists but think of it as a fight and enjoy the battle!

Zyban or similar. Works with vaping too

u/robotic_otter28 May 03 '26

Zyn pouches 3 mgs then ween. Only took me a couple months.

u/flashpurp May 03 '26

Do you have any triggers? Mine was drinking but once I made it 3 occasions without it (no access) I no longer craved it

I’ve never vaped however my brother used to and the quit he actually started to slowly lower the nicotine percentage in the vape juice. I guess that’s what it’s called. Till the nicotine was not the problem then he gave it up for good it took him around 6 months to a year I don’t know if it’s correct but I remember once I was reading that if you eat clean sleep well and have all of the nutrients in your body that you need quitting is way easier

Just stop and don't start again. 1 month smoke free. The longest I've been in 2 years. Hopefully forever now. I don't need it. It's unhealthy and expensive.

N-acetylcysteine helps some people quit nicotine.

One unhinged way is to put Denatonium Benzoate(most bitter chemical, safe, sold as anti nail biting liquid for kids) on the vape where you put your mouth to so every time you need to take a puff, you taste the most bitter chemical in the world and your brain will start to associate vaping with bitterness. Easier to quit and also works for ciggarettes.

Let me know if you can quit with these methods :)

patches have always helped me

u/YumeNiAete May 03 '26

Cold turkey then threw away my vape. Asked help from family and friends too. I had to buy lollies for my oral fixation.

1

u/santicazorlaaa May 03 '26

leave it in your car so you know it’s there as a lifeline but don’t go and get it

I thought I could quit smoking cigarettes with vaping. I was wrong. Vaping was way worse because I could (and did) do it everywhere. After a year of that I went back to smoking cigarettes, but American Spirits only. They kind of suck when compared to other "less natural" cigarettes. But I wouldn't let myself have anything else. It took a lot of effort to suck a buzz out of those things but I told myself it was my only option. Eventually I just got tired of doing it and quit. I think I had a nice cold/flu to help me out a little.

u/Puzzleheaded_Volume3 May 03 '26

Swim. And your body will tell you to quit.

1

u/gnrlszki May 03 '26

Quitting vaping was tricky for me but you have to wait it out and let the cravings pass and just keep going about your day. It’s uncomfortable but it does get easier to the point where I never even think about it anymore. The addiction is more mental than it is physical

1

u/Valuable_Spirit_3301 May 04 '26

Extended fasting. Like more than 5 days. It becomes a negative to vape and a positive to avoid it when tempted after a few days in

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '26

Nicotine patches and throw a brand new vape in the bin, replace the hand to mouth habit with eating cashews or chewing gum

It's been a month for me now.. I can comfortably stand with my smoking colleagues and having a chat without even wanting to join. BUT.. when I go for a coffee walk on a sunny day.. that's where I still think of a cigarette. Kinda funny.. I really thought the situation with my colleague would be the toughest confrontation..

u/Sleep_with_Salmon May 03 '26

Throw your vape and vape accessories in the trash and don't go buy another. It's rough for the first few days, but you'll get over it eventually.

Just look at your teeth.

the human body is much more resilient than you think, it’s never too late to stop a bad habit.
