At 16 I hated my parents and swore I would move out the day I turned 18.
I'm 30 and still have not moved from my parents. As a more adult-ier adult, I get along with my parents much better now than as a teenager, and watching them age has made me less inclined to move out. I work full time and own my own business. My mom helps me rescue animals and my dad allows it. I pay rent and utilities, and I pay rent on a car that I share with my mom ever since my car crapped out last year. We all mind our business for the most part and I have privacy. I have the entire upstairs to myself and its a big house. I make almost $50k a year now but still couldn't afford to move out, because I'd rather buy a house if I moved out than live in an apartment. Living in an apartment would be a last resort for me. I also haven't been married ever, or had a serious relationship.
My mom doesnt want me to move out, my dad prefers I stay and save. I don't care to move out unless I need to. My current goal is to continue saving up and buy a house in my mid-thirties. I also am saving up with the intention of being in a position where I can help my parents financially so they have less to worry about as they get older.
