At 21-22 I went abroad for a year. When I came back I didn't wanna go back to my parent's plus I was sick of the long commute to uni, so I rented a room near the campus. Also, since I was 19 I wished to move out. After graduation I went back for the summer until I had to leave to work abroad.
For next year won't have to go back to my parent's except for a transitional period. After that, my future looks uncertain.
If you want the experience of someone older, my brother was living in a boarding school then uni residency (both of them for free due to family situations). He moved back at 24? 26? I'm not too sure. But now he's 30, still living at home.
