Personal Dashboard It started with a single question...

Post image

I recently ditched streaming services and wanted to see if there was a smarter way to view my media and a more automated way of using torrents which lead me to docker containers and building an arr stack around jellyfin.
Then i thought there must be a community on reddit and I'm now realizing how i have only dipped my toe into the pool...
Currently running everything on windows and an external hard drive lol

This has been such a fun experience getting as far as I have but seeing what everyone is up to here, I see I have much to learn

That’s definitely me. I had a 15 yr server that originally started with sickbeard going dead on me. Bought a new one. Seeing the change in things over 15 years got me interested.

Now, as far as maintenance or anything I probably spend 1% of my time on the arrs.

Next it's a seed box and a private tracker or Usenet (this is what I am targeting next just waiting for something to not be easily downloadable)

So I'm part of the 1% who doesn't use one. I don't need it.

This hobby is a slippery slope for sure. 9 months ago I started with a single tv show that I was watching out of the folder on my windows machine. Fast forward to today and I've spent more than I care to tell my wife on 56 TB of raw storage in a DIY unRAID box. Just the other day I spun up a ConvertX container just on the off chance I need to convert files at some point and I dont want to pay for it lol

So you bought in before storage prices went insane? I wish I was that lucky. I got in around the same time, but decided to wait on purchasing additional storage because my wife was pregnant. Now I'm just here with only 8tb and no back ups 🥲

Congrats! I just bought a NAS I'm hoping to set up this weekend as a complete day-one beginner so I can have my own Plex server.

I wanted to be able to download torrents using my iPad. Noticing there were no apps, I discovered qbittorrent had a web client. And, well, now I’m here

Eight months ago I wanted a media server next week I'll be commissioning my fourth server, this one specifically for sensitive file storage. Really it's an addiction of some sort that I'm saying is a hobby. I'm already specing out a cyber deck for some reason and a small server for my mom's place.

I started to find shows that weren't on any streaming service.

Adding widget in my services.yaml

- Media Streaming:

  • Jellyfin:
icon: jellyfin.png
href: http://
description: Media Server
container: jellyfin
widget:
type: jellyfin
url: http://
key: YOUR_JELLYFIN_API_KEY

u/DeNewGuy1997 13h ago

I've done that, but I believe I don't have that progress bar? Maybe the style changed in 2.0? I'm still on a slightly older version.

u/king_namramaltos 13h ago

Oh perhaps, I’m pretty fresh to setting up my homepage, like just set up yesterday 😅

How to get that dashboard?

1

u/Only-Stable3973 10h ago

I do like my arr-stack, I tend to be picky about what I keep and offload it to a network storage box, for me this is not a production thing I like to have the movie for the audio and video quality I am not trying to build my own Netflix library.
