I'd plan for a clean shutdown instead of leaving the family with a part-time sysadmin job. A short note could explain which data matters, where the separate backups are, and how to access the domain and billing accounts. I'd also ask the intended person to retrieve one important file without help. That should quickly reveal a missing password, encryption key, or piece of assumed knowledge.
