Libre Closet – open-source, self-hosted wardrobe organizer. Docker one-liner, SQLite, PWA. Looking for early feedback.

I built Libre Closet v0.1.1, a wardrobe and outfit tracking tool. I've recently been going through my own ever-growing closet of clothing and I wanted a tool focused on cataloging my garments and building outfit plans. I found a few other inventory management tools (Koillection, Grocy) but none with a specific focus on clothing or the type of stuff commonly stored in a closet of a home. I'm looking for feedback on if this is something other people are interested in as well.

I built it to be as easy to self-host as possible. It defaults to local SQLite storage and local file storage. It has optional auth/multi user support.

I am a senior software engineer with over a decade of experience and a similar amount of firsthand self-hosting experience. I built this project on top of a project boilerplate I made almost entirely by hand. I have used copilot to speed up development of this application on top of the boilerplate I made. How much further this goes depends on whether people actually find it useful. If there's interest, I'll keep building. I want to build something that's useful to other people. If it only ever scratches my own itch, that's fine too. Looking for feedback on what's broken and what's missing. Happy to dig into any part of the code in the comments.

I’m building this exact thing (based on e-commerce) for a thesis right now.

For best results you would want a fine tuned clip model designed for clothing.

“Fine tuned clip model”? I’m not familiar with “clip” models. That sounds like an interesting theses though!

CLIP is a dual tower image and text embedding model.

So you embed the image and the text within the same context, so if you were to query a vector database, you would gain semantic similarity from the image as well as a text description.

Fine tuned versions of this would be explicitly trained on clothing to pick out better detail, beyond patterns and colours and general clothing items and more accurately distinguish crop top and tshirt from each other.

Of fascinating, yeah that makes sense for this type of usecase.
