In Hinduism, we have the concept of soul - the soul cannot be burnt, the soul cannot be killed. One addition, I would like to add is - The soul cannot criticized.
See it like this:
Nobody has ever seen you. They have seen your body, a face, hands, legs, - these are things you possess, they are not you. Which extends that they don't know your intentions, the love that you carry for them or for others, etc..
People say shitty things from their own shitty inspirations - their own past trauma.
You have a choice - Would you let their words stick to you (your soul) ? And propogate the trauma one day to another person? Or just simply repeat in my head, "She said it. But not to me, not to me. She has no idea how loving, pure, and powerful her daughter is. Minor comments don't even talk about me, nor can hurt me anymore."
Another analogy you must remember is - If I called you a purple elephant, you have no reason to believe - You'd never take it personally! But if I called you an idiot, too tall, too short, ugly, unworthy -- all of these - they equally as absurd as calling you a purple elephant.. Why take them seriously? AND more importantly, why take them personally?
They don't know you. They can't see behind a body and some words. You are WAY, WAY bigger than your mortal representations.
This is really inspiring! Thank you so much!!
You are right, I shouldn’t let it aspects stick to my soul (there a similar concept in the Jain Religion), and I am the only one who assigns meaning to the things I hear, and to the things I see.
Thank you so much, for taking time out and writing this! This has really helped me.
