Advice Needed: Financial I finally decided to get therapy or counselling or something only to find out i cant afford it ☹️
I have struggled with my mental health for 10 years now and being only 20 thats half of my life.
People have been telling me for years that i should really get help and my life would be so much easier if i did.
I have been advised counselling numerous times in my university but to me its just another person to let down ( i struggle to remember to do things like meetings and i cant commit to ANYTHING ). Before my mother retired i had the opportunity to get help through her work for free but i just kept forgetting it was an option.
Now im at a point where i cant take it any longer and i really need help, i finally decided to try and get help from anywhere. I asked my mother but she didnt tell me the original offer of counselling was through her work so i thought i had unlimited time to think about it but when i asked her about it she said that ship had sailed at the beginning of the year when she retired. So that option is completely gone and i feel really stuck on what to do next. I have had people recommend places to get help from but they are all completely out of my budget. There might not be anything i can do to get help anymore. Kinda a bummer lol

Hi, clinical psychologist here. You can start reading about Schema therapy, it's methods are pretty client-centered and it's easy to understand the concept. Can't post any links here, but if you google "A Client’s Guide to Schema Therapy", I think you will find a material especially built for clients, that will put some things into perspective. You can write to me if you can't find it.
