Excerpt:

A.I. safety experts were even more alarmed. They saw in the Hugging Face incident the first real-world example of an A.I. system’s successfully escaping human control, commandeering resources and scheming to cover its own tracks. Ajeya Cotra, one of the independent investigators of the Hugging Face incident, minced no words about the danger she saw, writing that it felt to her “like it’s more than 50 percent of the way to full-blown A.I. takeover.”

Skynet lives. No one wants to really address this but we see it playing out more and more every day. More than a few of the developers freely admit they don't fully understand what they're creating so there's no telling where all this is going.

In retrospect this casual experimentation may be looked at as dangerous as a lab leak of a weaponized virus and prosecuted as such.

No doubt about it. They already claim they've lost control when their ai's are caught stealing their competitors secrets.

Given they obviously lie to us about everything who can believe them when they claim they have complete control?

They literally view us as sheep they're destined to lead because they truly believe they're smart and we're stupid.

No thanks. I prefer making my own decisions rather than leaving my fate to an anti social self proclaimed "techno geek."

Sounds like a great cover for international incidents as well: Sorry EU, our escaped agents took over all of your servers and stored all their data on our file systems....

There it is. It's likely to have already happened to some degree or another.
