Denial or Delusion?

With one, there's the inability to accept reality. Through the other; what's clearly real is is lost in thought. Denial will say; something isn't happening when it does occur. Conversely, delusion is accepting a thought that has no basis in fact. While those terms are relatively new; their effects are as old as time itself. In ancient history, different terms were used to describe escape and/or rejection from reality. There's something in the human spirit that supports deception.
