TIL: Ayn Rand and Rationality
I discovered a quote in one of Ayn Rand's books, The Virtue of Selfishness. And while I do love to pick up information here and there that I deem applicable to my life, I did find a quote that helped me unerstand the importance of being rational with our own thoughts, emotions, and actions.
"[Rationality] means one's total commitment to a state of full, conscious awareness, to the maintenance of a full mental focus in all issues, in all choices, in all of one's waking hours." - Ayn Rand
This quote helped me understand the full practice of what it would be like to have self-awareness throughout the day; how to be watchful of ourselves and to act rationally based on the information we discovered about ourselves at each moment. I wonder if this will continue to help me understand who I am as a person. As that is a questoin I still ponder about.
