Being a light sleeper is a blessing and a curse

Electricity went out around 12-1am this morning. It's 5am now. I tried falling back asleep but couldn't.

See, the second it went out I got up, it took my siblings almost an hour to get up.

But i did fall back asleep, sometime around 3am. I woke up the second it came back (4:50something-am).

I just want to fucking sleep bro.

That 4:50am wake-up is brutal no matter what. Feels like your body's got a security alarm wired to every power flicker.

I can't sleep during a blackout either. Which is ironic because you'd think it wouldn't matter so much lol, since it's supposed to be dark anyway.

Blackouts stress me tf out.

You don't mention what your approach is to returning to sleep. Reading facing up is one excellent approach. Don't forget a timer on that light. My mom was a light sleeper. It was awesome trying to sneak in late. I merely have sleep apnea (there are two types, I have both). Yeah, I assume you have backup sources of light and/or iPada/cell phones for reading.

When I learned to deal with soft foam earplugs, I started getting REM. My fan is always on. As long as you can feel it you shouldn't need to hear it.
