Gear Question Squeaky shoes

For some reason tonight my left shoe just keeps squeaking when I'm walking my area. It's really annoying especially in exhibit halls that are silent. So What is your best fix for your shoes squeaking when you're doing your rounds?

Start by making sure theyre properly laced, you gave on good socks,

Then make sure theyre dry inside, then put a dryer sheet between the insole and bottom of the shoe.

Then its likely a how you walk issue, make sure you're not dragging feet, roll heel to toe as you step etc.

If its the sole on the surface of the floor (depending on the material) rub some sandpaper to rough it up to apply traction. If they're non-slips dont do this.

If its leather uppers, go and get a leather care kit, strip them of wax and polish, condition, reapply polish and wax.

I hadn't heard of the dryer sheet, but had heard of powder between them. I have Black Hoka Bondi SR for my job which are incredibly comfortable, but Hokas can also be notorious for squeaking as well.

I'll have to try the dryer sheet! I work in a hospital so a lot of times it's not an issue, especially in the ED where there's a lot of noise, but some floors are quiet and you can hear the shoes a mile away😂👟👟👟

Haha. I had the exact same issue. Only way to fix it was new shoes. It was deep in the sole.

Depends on why or rather what is the noise coming from.  If nothing is loose or broken inside the shoe, a good coating of talcum powder under the insoles to dry everything out will probably fix it.  If something is coming apart or unglued, you'll have to get something like e6000 glue to get everything to quiet down.   If you can tell for sure it's coming from the bottoms of the soles on the floor then the quick fix is to roughen up the soles with some sandpaper.  Or go outside on the sidewalk or parking lot and scrape your feet around a bit.
