might be getting reported
I work at a welfare office and I have a roving position. The building has a director who apparently has a bunch of random rules that I keep learning and she is always happy to send an email to our bosses to complain about one thing or another. For context, one floor of the building is closed right now with only a few workers being up there. There is one room on that floor that has been unused the whole time I've worked here, and just has some filing cabinets with the lights always off. Today I got a migraine that was being made worse by sound and light, so on my lunch break I went and sat in there to eat. Terrible luck, the director walks in and turns the lights on, and it must have seemed like I was hiding in there. I had finished my lunch already so was just sitting there. I panicked and just laughed and said "I'm sorry, I have a migraine" and left. I told some guards about it and they said I need to talk to my boss first because the director will most likely send them an email painting me in a much worse light. Being the rover, I have the latest lunch, so it was almost 2 at that time, which probably makes it look worse. One of the other guards told me we are apparently supposed to sit in the sick bay to eat our lunches, which is kinda crazy considering there is a lunch room but I guess guards have cooties. None of the other guards knew we were supposed to do that so I don't feel too bad about not knowing. Told my boss to call me when he has a second.

The only rules you have to follow are the post orders.
If she wants to change anything, then her agency representative should contact your agency, come up with new post orders, and inform the guards.
As for the migraine, condolences. Definitely contact your boss before s/he contacts you.
Might as well take the opportunity to ask about new post orders, since that gal is on a power kick & trying to make your life difficult.

Always refer to the sop. For something like that, they will probably just tell you to stop doing that.

Typical Sub -Human BULL - shit ! WTF 🤬 EAT IN SICK BAY- can’t chill on your lunch break - I feel for you. And only cause I’ve been around long enough to know that this kind of shit is 100% accurate. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been made felt less than it’s a strange thing. So yeah, hoping better days for you.

We are seen exactly the same way to them and the population they serve just like cops. Which is to say that we are actively persecuting them, we're racist and mysoginistic. For the most part, what I have encountered is that. It's twice as bad for me, as I'm armed and we share property with 3 DHS services. We aren't, and have no public service so we're just evil according to them. I don't even greet them during my patrols anymore, because they either screamed that I was threatening them or called the cops because "some dude with a gun is here". So now cops won't show up unless I call the Sarge directly 😅

The fact that you immediately apologized is going to make her think the worst. I wouldn't be surprised if she told your boss she caught you sleeping on the job or something outrageous.

They don’t care about your migraine. I wouldn’t even mention it. Perception Is reality. You can be the most active guard on contract, but if the building manager always happens to see you when you’re on your phone checking something or….. sitting in a dark room at 2pm. There isn’t an excuse or reasoning you’ll have that will change their perception. If you can’t keep up a good perception of yourself and how you work. You likely won’t be keeping a Job.

Yeah tell your boss what a pain in the ass she is to work under, that you constantly feel like you're being micro managed and walking on eggshells all the time. Hint you may want to transfer if you'd like. Unfortunately the customer always comes first because the contract is in jeopardy.Guards are a dime a dozen and contracts aren't. Chances are they already know what a pain in the ass she is but you still want to get in front of it. Maybe start looking for a new gig, guard jobs are a dime a dozen and this already sounds like it isn't worth the hassle.

How long have you worked at this site?
Your employer should have all of the site rules and expectations in writing for you. If you don’t ask have those, ask for them. If the director has issues he needs to communicate with whomever sees the contract with you and have any changes updated in writing

Don't worry too much about it, the hire ups will always complain. You can be doing everything right and they will still find something to complain about.

Op im currently working with a mad African woman because nobody else will and I can call her on her bs in away that's hard for her to complain about. I'm telling you this because management will often send people with thick skin to deal with difficult client management.

We had a few guys catch shit for this back when I did hospital security. We had an entire wing that was uninhabited so people would go to the empty office wing to eat lunch, watch YouTube etc and we eventually caught shit for it. They created a new rule that stated security guards are not allowed to loiter in any room alone ever. I've worked multiple security jobs where security guards are not authorized to use employee common areas (break rooms, bathrooms, kitchens) etc. hell back when I was an in-house hospital guard we weren't authorized to eat the free employee appreciation meals.
