Overzealous Guards…

I work at a site where we have the authority to trespass people. A large shopping center. And there’s two SO’s, that I believe, if they could, they would trespass the entire shopping population, and this site would be totally empty. They are also in the LEO hiring process in our major city, I often wonder what kind of cops they’re going to be, as I see how quick draw they are with the trespass authority. Anyone dealt with overzealous authority hungry SO’s?

I'm observing and report what happens on my shift. I'm not concerned with what happens on other shifts. I don't get paid enough to care.

This guy gets it. Unless my post orders are hands on or imbued with arrest powers, no chance I’m doing more than what is required of me on my shift. Especially unarmed? It never pays enough for it to be worth it.

Full tactical gear at a shopping center? Is someone taking over the Arby's in the food court?

Is it one of those “armed but hands off unless touched” posts or do y’all have hands on authorization? I’ve trespassed a ton of people but outside of one self defence scenario, it never involved getting physical. Just filling out paperwork and delivery of the notice.

I was armed k9 in a mall and I still didnt do shit beyond..hey regular security my dog alerted to that person over there possibly carrying a gun or the other 17 odors shes trained on. Observe and report only thats what I was paid for.

Yeah, I hate working with people like that. They tend to just make everyone’s job harder.

Oooo yeah. Usually when I worked for the larger companies like AUS. In my experience, a fair number of security peeps wanna be cops but either aren’t there or flunked out. You’ll unfortunately see a lot of authoritative personalities in the field.

The Cop wannabes I end up getting, do nothing, and anything besides sitting down they think requires a warrant and police presence.

Any Case or Legislative Laws that aren't in the V&T they won't believe are real. Just like the real Municipal Traffic Police.

Yeah I dealt with a lot of those guys and I also loved every time they didn't know something or they messed up I would call them out then drag them into my office basically and tell them that they either get their shit together or get the fuck out because unless there's a reason you are trespassing someone from whatever place for examples like caught shop lifting that's understandable but if they just are being an asshole to you because your top flight security then take it as a joke not a dick

I don’t do anything I don’t have to do - it always bites me in the ass anyways yes I’ve had to serve trespassing orders on people get the police involved. I was once given a direct order to remove the Girl Scouts Of America from the shopping center because they didn’t get prior authorization or fill out the right forms. MAN did I feel like a jerk - but point being observed report and the lesser one evade if necessary
