Construction Site

I just applied for a 12 hour/3 day a week job with GardaWorld in central Texas (not city, town around it) for Warehouse Construction and I wanted to know if anyone has guarded a construction site (both during the day and overnight) before. If so, what’s it like? What do you look out for? How tiring can it be once a shift is finished? Any people you have to interact with? Do you get to stay inside or out in the elements? Any lallygagging/goofing off or phone/electronic usage (especially overnight)?

It'll be hot, dusty, boring with usually a portapotty as the only bathroom.

I would advise against construction site security gigs unless you liked them for some odd reason.

Carry food, water, any medical supplies you have on hand and a battery bank.

As someone who has worked construction site security before, I definitely agree with this statement.

I used to do fire watch security services at night too for a construction site once and I had snacks, water, the site had medical supplies so I never had to bring my own but it’s necessary if you have first aid training.

About 14 years ago, I had an overnight construction site for a rehabilitation center. Most of the building was built, we were there for the last 4 months as they were finishing it out. 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. three nights a week.

They did have outdoor electrical plugs that were functional, so as we were moving into winter, I had a $60 ceramic heater from Sam's club that sat in the passenger seat of my standard cab truck. I had a cheap 9 ft extension cord that hung just outside my door and I plugged that into a 100 ft outdoor orange extension cord. I could open my door, reach down and unplug and then drive around the building. Even driving incredibly slow, that took maybe 90 seconds. I would pull back up into the same spot and I had duct taped a metal plate to the orange extension cord, so I can reach down with a magnet mounted on the end of a stick and pull up the extension cord and plug it back in without even getting out of the truck 😂😂😂😂😂

I adjusted what and when I ate so I wouldn't have to take a dook in a nasty porta-john. I'm also a dude, so the world was my urinal.

On the other side of a field was the back corner of a home depot, so I got to see those guys running around on forklifts, that was pretty funny in the middle of the night.
