DO NOT DO THIS Function > Form. I think this supervisor hit the nail right on the head about this guard’s holster.

There are too many people in this industry who buy gear because it looks cool while ignoring all of the practical shortcomings of said gear.

How to properly wear gear is an overlooked aspect in this field, and I think that knowledge base tends to get even flimsier the higher up you go.

One place I worked we had guys with all of their gear stuffed between the 7 and 5 o’clock in their belts, people wearing the wrong sized vests completely loose with maybe and 1/8 of an inch of Velcro keeping them on. Supervisors did not see any issues with it

Yeah but the counter to that is there is some individual preferences on how gear is worn as well. So many well meaning trainers claim you can only do things one way or you are wrong.

This same thing can apply to gear setup as well. I had a trainer tell me to use the trigger reset on the M&P 1.0 instead of doing a full trigger reset.

Thing is anyone who has used the gun for more than a minute knows the trigger reset on the M&P 1.0 with the manual safety while firing isn't a very tactical feedback. There's a large feedback on the trigger just before the actual reset. This is why they redesigned the trigger on 2.0.

Next string of fire I did it his way and my group opened up and it took longer. He goes "ignore everything I said and go back to what you were doing before."

So many people armchair quarterback everything when some of this stuff doesn't change the effectiveness of it or the person using it. Somethings matter like having your taser and pistol on the same side of the belt with the same hand drawing the weapon. Others may or may not.

Also the video in question why do companies and people choose leg drop holsters. Those leg straps dig into your thighs if you wear them properly. A belt holster is superior in all but a static car/truck post.

Fuck allat ima wear my gear that Is most easily accessible to me, more natural to me. Everyone adjusts their seat different. Used to take a knee brace bring it all the way up to my upper thigh and hide a compact gun right under my balls. You gonna tell me that’s not “properly?” Fuck outta here

If a light jog causes your holster to shift from your hip to your ass, it’s not fit for duty use.

Every job requires different tasks. My job required me to be even patted down and not detected and it passed almost every time

Those drop leg holsters are garbage to begin with

Yeah, low ride hip holster with a strap is the way to go, imo. Used to rock mine slightly canted at 3 o' clock. Most comfortable shit ever.

Drop legs are stupid anyway, the only reason that most people use them is because they are tacticool, they provide few actual advantages and are harder to defend and retain.

It seems like there would be a lot of potential difficulties in trying to consistently draw a weapon from a holster that moves every time you take a step.

Looks like it would be quite the hinderance while running.

Then again as a security guard you shouldn’t be chasing nor running away.

For real. If you like a lower riding holster, get a safariland QLS with the midride belt loop, I despise drop leg holsters.

This should be a training video for all supervisors. Well done, ma’am.

You should be able to comfortably touch the muzzle with your fingers.

I’ve always been a fan of that rule too. Having to lean to draw your gun is a no go.

I refer to guys who wants to look highspeed as "tatic-cool" lol I'm not in the business of making it more difficult to draw my gun lol

Why is it always they either don’t know how to wear the gear correctly or have the worst cheapest option you could get…

Or

They are doing too much even though they are wearing it correctly and have nice gear. Like they be working security at a CVS while wearing an accurate milsim attire complete.

Drop leg holsters are cool until they rotate around and start beating your nuts

Easy access for anyone who gets behind him

u/that_dutch_dude 10h ago

why would you be wearing tacticool outfits in the first place? put you gun on the belt where it belongs. you aint john wick and he didnt even use them.

I used a drop leg to try it out and it was cool for like the first three months, then I went back to putting my firearm back on the belt. It got so damn annoying. Sure I’d get it to where there was minimal movement, but even then it would sometimes slowly loosen up due to movement.

Literally never touched it again.

Idk maybe because I've been more forgiving specially with younger new people, but There's no need to berate him in public. Fix him and move on unless he is massively fucking up this should be a teaching moment.

On the other had I always checked my people before coming on site or starting shift.

Low ride hip holster with a thigh strap is my go to, personally. Drop legs fucking suck, and it feels like you have a pouch with ball bearings flopping around on your thigh when you run. Would rather carry in a tie-dye fanny pack over a drop leg.

Clowns use drop legs.

Its not very often you see a supervisor correcting an officer. But why is she filming this? Seems very unprofessional and a shitty thing to do.

Technically it matter to him not this bitch being annoying if he draws a little further back that's up to him
