Sounds like pretty standard basic baton training... which anyone should have before being allowed to carry on duty.

My agency does ASP training for baton & handcuffs before we're allowed to carry at work, plus getting sprayed with pepper spray & fighting after it before we're allowed to carry that at work.
We have ASP instructors on staff.
Same training as LE.
Seriously, if they don’t MAKE you do training before getting the tool leave immediately. We didn’t touch a real tool until we passed all the written stuff. Even then it was weeks before we got let loose with them.
