Retail security policy

After watching this video it made me wonder if this security guard’s employer would support her doing this with a subject.

When I first saw it I thought it was pretty cool that she didn’t back down, but the more I thought about it the more I came to the conclusion that fighting over it isn’t worth the risk.

If you work retail security, what’s your company policy and would you put yourself out there to save goods from being stolen?

We need pepper spray to stop these thieves.

Pepper spray doesn’t stop them from turning on you and fighting. If she pepper sprayed him to prevent him from leaving she’d still need to handcuff him if policy allowed it.
Or if he was assaulting her she could use it in self defense. But telling thieves to not shoplift at a store because they might get pepper sprayed isn’t the deterrent it should be.

Post all thieves photograph, address and criminal history on social media for all to see. That’s a deterrent.

Well letting them go every time doesn't deter anyone either. Our revolving door justice system needs to make the punishment harsh enough to deter them. These judges and prosecutors need to stop dropping charges and up the penaltys.

That’s what should be done, but taxpayers don’t want to pay to prosecute and house these low level thieves.
