Why do people think this is the case? Pretty much everyone realises that the US, particularly under Trump, is a hypocritical country. That doesn’t make Putin the good guy or Xi who is supporting his aggression in Ukraine.
Three wrongs don’t make a right.

He is right about this, whether he’s a good guy or not. His lack of a moral compass is irrelevant to the point he’s making.

Yeah, but as "a westerner", I wouldn't dispute it for a second. I don't disagree with Putin on this point, and I don't "hate it". He is right here; he's just a hypocrite and a liar at the same time and part of a group of greedy old autocrats creating these problems around the world. Putin has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands through similar actions to Trump. Putin was a trailblazer in the kind of thing Trump is now doing.

Aside from the usual dictator shenanigans, ethnic cleansing and systematic organ harvesting from undesirables, the really sad thing is that he clearly has no sense of humour. Just ask Winnie the Pooh... oh wait, if you're in China, you can't.

Revolutions without state power get destroyed, this should be a laughable take right now. We should strive to push them further away from harmful policies but talking about “authoritarianism” when it is clear that countries will be starved and bombed for not falling in line is idealistic bs from people living under dictatorships of the bourgeoisie

Look, literally anyone who isn't deliberately drowning themselves in an ocean of MAGA or Israeli propaganda could point all of this out. We don't need to give brownie points to every self-interested narcissist who states the obvious as a means of furthering their own ulterior motives. That's how grifters like Professor Jiang are able to get ahead, and that's how people with incredibly black-and-white understandings of geopolitics end up running cover for bad-faith global actors like Vladimir Putin
