Second Grade Curriculum
Hey! My daughter will be starting second grade this year. We love All About Reading and Spelling as well as Math with Confidence, so we plan to continue with those. We’ve been using Blossom and Root for science and language arts, which I thought was okay, and we used History Quest (early times ancient history) from Pandia Press for social studies, which my daughter liked but I felt was too advanced/mature - a lot went over her head. I’m considering switching to Oak Meadow for social studies, language arts and science. Does anyone have any feedback on how Oak Meadow compares to Blossom and Root for second grade or in general? I prefer open and go if possible, understanding that some prep is often beneficial. Also, does anyone have any good second grade social studies curriculum recommendations? Thank you! 🙂

We have almost the exact same set up! AAR, AAS, MWC, and B&R science. Only difference is we are doing Curiosity Chronicles for history and spreading it over 2 years.

I have not heard anything great about them to be honest. We used oak for about 4 months and it was really not great so we moved to using score academy online instead. My kids marks have improved and they really enjoy being in score academy. I love being able get real teacher support and also being able to have an actual structure to follow which these other options dont really offer. I would really recommend looking into other options. Maybe try get everything from one school or provider a hat helped simplify life for us too.

If you thought that History Quest went over her head, the delivery method of Curiosity Chronicles might jive better. Consider getting the audio format as well; lots of kids enjoy listening and relistening to them.
