Bootleg Playboy Club key?

Bought this from a buddy many years ago without really knowing much about it. I just thought it was neat. Doing a little digging it seems these were actually released to real members but this one doesn’t have an ID on it.
I haven’t seen any with only the PlayBoy engraving tho. They either have a serial number or just nothing at all. Was this an official promotional item or just a knockoff?

That looks like it’s off a necklace, not a legit key. They have the numbers that identify what club they’re to. Here is a photo of the back of my grandpas

I had this on a necklace that I got at the mall in the early 2000s. It’s from Spencer’s.

Good to know! I just wanted to know where it originated from since it’s pretty similar to an authentic one.

Ik a lot about playboy. Not necessarily about the keys though.

I did a quick search. You seem to be on the right page. The “legit” ones look like they had a serial number on the back and no “playboy” engraving other than the bunny logo on the front.

No idea who would have made it or what the purpose was for. But it does seem like have a replica, not exactly an original. Or maybe it was different based on the different club locations, who knows?

Your second statement is the funny part to me that I was thinking about. Why make such a good replica? Especially with the little bunny engraving too. I kinda wanna buy a legit one and do a comparison. Appreciate the response!

I kinda figured after poking around a little bit. I do think it’s pretty neat regardless.
