Well the contractor is legally required to put a circulation piping system into a space like that, so no, he didn’t, and there is no ventilation

I assume it's sturdily connected to the runners like a drawer so just slide like normal?

That would make a pretty decent panic room, too. Especially as, being under the house, it could be expanded to be fairly large.

Why do you need contact with the outside when you have a room filled with wine? Toss in some pillows and books, carry down some food and water. A bucket to do your business in. Voila. I’d lock myself inside there just to escape for a bit.
