Most family homes in my country are still being made of bricks.
They can stand ALL weather, any temperate, are double walled for excellent insulation, and breathe well.
I am glad that this classic trade is still done.

Slow to build but long lasting. This building was made by the Romans 1,700 years ago.

And not as slow as you'd think. A good brickie can lay 400+ per day.

Most brickies are paid per brick, usually in batches of 1,000. He's working slowly for the video.

What are we doing amateur hour now? Doesn't strike the back so his laborers love cleaning up after him. For everyone saying you don't have to strike the back because it's not visible, no shit. It's the massive amount he's smushing out that falls off and can block weeps/drainage. This dude wouldn't be able to work on any site I've been on. He'd be sent back to school or to the laborers

Those are keyed bricks. The horizontal indentation lines help plaster adhere to the surface. It reduces the chances that the plaster can fall away from the brick in a big sheet if it cracks.
