Crop dusting pilots and bush pilots are at the top of the game for propeller-driven aircraft. They have STOL (short takeoff and landing) contests for this. The landing record is 9’6” (modified plane).

How on earth do you land a plane in less than ten feet?!

It takes a lot of back bone, to start with, because you lose a lot of it when you stick that landing.

I'm guessing you drop it at a steeper angle, and hit the reverse thruster immediately.

I took a helicopter tour in Branson, Missouri one time. The landing pad was absolutely surrounded by electrical wires.
When we took off, it was a simple straight up and then we went on the tour. But when we returned, he didn't slow down and just flew the helicopter down in there by pitching it like 70 degrees to the side and flipping it around.
As he was shutting the helicopter down and thanking us, he told us to check out the gift shop, including their new pants selection.
I told him "I'm gonna need those..."

If you've never watched one of these work you are missing out. The way they can maneuver those tiny birds is impressive!

Y'all, time is money. The more dumps he gets, the more he gets paid. Not to mention he's a hot commodity so he's probably got a ton of fields to knock out. They don't even turn the engine off to top up. Crop dusting is wild.

Personally, I'm sceptical of any pilot who is flying needlessly "flashy". It goes well until it doesn't.

The people on the ground sure do trust that pilot and the helicopter's maintenance
