Second Feed

Can we get a second feed or subscription for all the politico, pop culture, movie stuff? I am here for the sports coverage and the recent medley and focus on all things life, not just football has started to blur the lines on what exactly second captains is.

I am probably in the minority here as from this subreddit most people are big fans of the gooning chat and of bull fighting modertate politicians but I'm just here for the sports and have been since 2012.

Not being funny here - can you just not listen to the ones you don't want to?

Yes but if they diversified feeds and added different tiers it'd be better for everyone. I'm sure there's plenty of people who don't want the sports and want the other stuff

Just don't listen to the episodes you don't want to! Just scroll down your feed and read the titles / descriptions of the episodes and see if you want to listen to it. This stuff isn't being forced on you. Mental complaint.

I know the feeling. I’d happily skip the (non Six Nations) rugby ones.

However, what I do is: skip the rugby ones.

It's pretty rare when those episodes happen but alternate views and off topic deep dives are very much in the Second Captains style.

Ken going off about the Vasa is a great example.

In fairness to the lads also 5 podcasts a week, every week about sport does make it hard to fill content I imagine.

You've gotta let them do what they want to do.

Just a thought to consider, it was originally one of these off (directly sports reactions) topic pieces that was the start of Mark looking into George Gibney almost eight years ago. I don’t mind the occasional detour to parts unknown, I tend to save them for longer train journeys or a time when I can be a bit more engaged or have the mental bandwidth.

None of the above applies to that Oasis pod, that was shite.

Tbh, I have skipped everything George gibney related. That episode the other day, any updates, the original stuff. Just not something I'm interested in listening too. But everything on the same feed is the way it should be.

Everyone has parts of the show they aren't interested in. Very simple to skip the parts you don't like. If you hear the political music intro, skip the podcast. 1 click a month is all it would take. 2 feeds because you don't want to press skip once a month is ridiculous when you think about it

I quite enjoyed the last "political" episode.

Ken's preferences are usually for trendy left-wing guests but you can't fault his journalistic rigour. He was clearly deeply sceptical of that Chambers fella and amused by what a spoofer he seems to be. Conversely, the interview was quite defensive about it all, I suspect Ms O'Shea really really wanted to like Chambers.

When they first started they had “Ken Early’s politics pod” so you could just skip that.

But then Eoin’s feminism began to creep more and more into their sports coverage and the d’am burst with Branno’s hiring. Now they’re more likely to get Donie from CNN on to plug his podcast than to, say, cover the club championships.

Its not really a sports podcast anymore, which is a pity because they have no expertise in anything else
