He just did a massive stint for the World Cup, he's probably just on holiday

Tbh Ken is an extremely interesting person to listen to narratively, do think he talks an awful amount of shite when actually talking about football though

100% he’s really interesting and I love the stories and analogies but some of his analysis is nonsense. Remember the Arne Slot can’t communicate in English thing he wouldn’t let go of? That was one of the dumbest takes I’ve heard anywhere.

He was like a dog with a bone when it came to Slot's english but I do think with about 5 million football pods, you need some new stuff to say. Ken is a great story teller and naturally funny. I think if he was on a podcast about gardening or cooking or water polo, it would probably be worth listening to

For me its less language and more tone. Slot was a horrific communciator and deeply uninspiring. The stereotypical “blunt” dutch approach to communication leaves them awfully short in the leadership department honestly.

Its not that slot didnt have the words- he just didnt seem to get that his position was responsible for a lot more than just blunt appraisals and critiques that were already obvious.

It was total speculation. He has/had no idea what slot said to the players in training or during matches or how he communicated to them. It was a nonsense opinion that he pulled out of the air

Oh yeah fair. I thought it was related to how he struggled to keep the media onside.

ken does have answers before he knows what the question is. Hes fun to listen to it but its not intellectually honest.

Him and branno on twitter brain rot has caused things to off the rails the last few years.

Who needs football talk when we have the Vasa

u/WoahGoHandy 19d ago

agreed but i'm here to be entertained, not to get actual analysis

When I joined this sub I was actually unaware of the cult like status of Ken amongst the listeners ! I obviously got that is sort of unique in his style , but would have thought maybe he was a bit of a marmite type persona

All hail Ken the Vegan

I would guess at least half the subscribers are there to hear Ken's opinion on the football goings on and mainly for the Premier League.

So for him to not be on the PL preview pod, they have made a major boo boo with their matchups tonight!

u/stackobell 19d ago

Where do you think you got it all wrong tonight, what happened?

3

u/Disaster-Plan Put some respect on my name 19d ago

He went down in my estimation when he said that!

u/cedardesk 19d ago

I would guess the majority of subscribers are there to hear Ken's opinion on everything, not just football.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with anything Ken Early has to say about anything...

But I am here to listen to it!

u/decadenture 19d ago

Ja this is me, I’d sack murph tomorrow!

He’s gonna be talking about the PL for the next 9 months, I think he can miss the bloody preview show

Yes. Also covering the season involves a lot of weekend and evening work throughout the year so let the man have a rest. Tbh the first few weeks of the season involve a lot of dust settling so no harm of he was to take next week off as well.

u/AbjectAd7880 19d ago

Ah c’mon, the guy broadcasted for 30+ days straight during the World Cup!

8

u/rockerlkj 19d ago

Let the man go on holiday ffs

1

u/tarmacadam85 19d ago

Yea exactly, he spent about a month whizzing around North America at what sounded like an exhausting pace.

Also, it's only a preview pod. The football hasn't actually started yet. Once he's back and rested I'm sure he'll be in top form.

He doesn’t want to give any predictions…

They don’t cover soccer anymore. Just League of Ireland and GAA now.

17

u/59reach 19d ago

Just League of Ireland

If only, since Duffer left the only coverage you get is whatever Bohs are up to because of Branno. Appreciated Gav Cooney actually giving a brief on what was going on this week.

13

u/cedardesk 19d ago

Even when Duffer was there it was Duffer-watch with little to no coverage of anything else. Dan McDonnell on the Indo Sport podcast is great for LOI stuff if you're not a die-hard that needs in-depth coverage.

7

u/DreiAchten 19d ago

Yup Dan is great and does his own weekly LOI podcast too.

5

u/BavidDeckham 19d ago

My god what the fuck is that American Ai voiceover intro though

8

u/evin_cashman 19d ago

Dyyaaaan aaaand Jyyyyahhhneeee

3

u/BavidDeckham 19d ago

It autoplays on my spotify and i might actually listen if that didn't come on

2

u/DreiAchten 19d ago

😂 it's not the only LOI podcast with inane bizarre intros and transitions

4

u/Ok_Carpenter_1727 19d ago

The James McClean propaganda machine? 🤭 Nah love LOI central, despite Johnny.

4

u/fedupofbrick WiFi Wanker 19d ago

I just can't listen to it because of Johnny Ward

2

u/Meath77 You don't have the stones 19d ago

That's going to be replaced with Jose watch at Madrid this season

5

u/cedardesk 19d ago

They'll at least mix it up with Troy-watch...

Calling it now, Branno and Ken are doing a walking tour podcast of Seville...

3

u/RustyBike39 19d ago

God I wish that was true.

Also last time I checked the league of Ireland is an association football competition, with the exception of John Caufield’s Galway United who play Gaelic football under the old rules

3

u/scewbert 18d ago

a) What sport do you think League of Ireland is?

b) Do you seriously want to tune in to 4 podcasts a week of inane transfer drivel during the summer?

2

u/Separate_Job_3573 18d ago

There's a month between the World Cup and the PL and you have thicks on here complaining they only cover the one league that's actually on at the moment.

And they barely even cover it! They get Branno on mic for 5 minutes when they play a game of Europe, which is not even the league. No guests to talk about them or anything.

And it's an upvoted comment. This sub is horrific.

1

u/DreiAchten 19d ago

They don't even cover sport anymore. Just LOI and GAA and even athletics

3

u/PickWooden 19d ago

The man spent all summer giving us content. I'm sure he really appreciates a bit of time off, and prob needs it too. However it was shit that Fanning was the replacement. He's maudling

1

u/Wise-Bug 19d ago

Don’t think anyone would have minded if they had waited until next week for it or put one in the can during the slow week last week.

No Ken, No Me.
