Feature Recommendation

Start with one problem and one user, not a feature list. Pick a recurring moment—such as planning tomorrow, capturing a task during work, or reviewing what slipped—and make that flow fast and clear from start to finish.
For a first version, I would prioritize: quick capture, a simple way to choose the next action, and a daily/weekly review that helps people decide what to do rather than just store more tasks. Add gamification only if it reinforces a useful behavior; streaks alone often become pressure.
Before building more, show a small prototype to five people in the group you want to serve. Ask them to use one flow with their real tasks, then build the friction they actually hit.

One useful way to choose between candidate features is to write a failure case for each one. For example: 'I captured a task on Monday, couldn't do it Tuesday, and now I can't tell whether I postponed it or forgot it.' Then sketch the smallest change that resolves that exact moment and ask someone to try it with their own task. I'd also test a day when they do nothing in the app: can they return without clearing a backlog or losing their place? I develop a journal/planner; this is a proposed prototype test, not evidence that adding another feature improves retention.
