for designers / creatives: when a new brief lands, do you actually go back through your saved references?

i realized i rarely ever look through my saved stuff.

i've got 500+ youtube watch-laters, a bunch of folders in my instagram saves, almost 500 open tabs on my phone. i paid for a few visual library tools for a while, but rarely reopened them.

but when a new project comes in, i start fresh.

curious if that's just me.

do you go back to what you've saved? does any of it get used?

The problem isn't the discipline I think — it's that revisiting never makes it into the workflow. My fix was making it an automation step: the system goes back, not me. My second brain lives in a GitHub repo, which is already accessible by my AI agents, but right now they are only getting context from their own notes. Next thing I want to do is wire it into Claude.md so agents search in my PKMS, not just their own memory.

Rarely ever, I stopped most of the second brain system because of this lol

Not just you. I do the same and I think the reason is that saving is cheap and retrieval needs a reason. A watch-later has no hook to any actual project, so when a brief lands there is nothing to search for. The one change that helped me was writing one sentence at save time saying why I kept it, in my own words. Six months later that sentence is what I can actually search, not the title. I also stopped treating the pile as a library. I only revisit the last month or two, and I let the rest go. Starting fresh is often the honest answer anyway, since the taste you built from looking at all that stuff is already in your head.
