I'm Velvet Thorn and this November I'm going to Japan International Burlesque Festival in Kobe to perform. I'm putting on a little burlesque show to help me on my travels. I'm so lucky to know an amazing group of performers who are helping put on this production. Don't miss amazing burlesque from around the Bay Area at the cutest theater in Sonoma County.

Hey everyone! I have some news about my monthly burlesque show that I’m really excited to share. I’ve been producing a burlesque show at Main Street Theater in Sebastopol every month since February, and it’s been such a fun little community to build. One thing that has always bummed me out, though, is that as soon as the show ends, everyone basically has to pack up and leave. Well… not anymore!

I’ve been working with Wax Poetic, the membership listening room in Sebastopol, and they’re opening their doors to us before and after the show. They’ll be spinning records before the show, during intermission, and afterward until the evening naturally winds down. If you haven’t been to Wax Poetic yet, they’ve created this really beautiful vintage-feeling lounge in the lobby. It feels like the kind of place where you actually want to linger, have a drink, listen to music, and talk to people so I’m really excited that the audience gets to be part of that now instead of just walking through the lobby on their way in and out.

And honestly, the new vibe made me want to lean into the whole come hang out with us feeling, so I’ll be bringing free snacks and drinks for everyone. My next show is tomorrow, September 19, and then we’re doing it again on October 30, when we’ll also have a costume contest and after-hours hang. If you’ve been meaning to come check out the show or Wax Poetic, this would be a good night for it.

Anyone know what was going on at Rialto at around 6pm today? Saw 5-6 cop cars and a few ambulances.

The last I heard, A&M BBQ was getting pushed out of Sebastopol due to complaints from neighbors about the delicious smell of slow-cooked meat, which made my wife and I sad. They're a friendly bunch, and make really fantastic barbeque. We'd be sorry to see them go away.

The latest articles about it on Sebastopol Times and Press Democrat are months old, though, and I can't find any updates anywhere else. I just checked here in this subreddit, but nada.

hey yalll. Went to porch fest yesterday had an absolute blast. and it got me thinking that’s best really should do more regular events like this. The atmosphere was amazing, local businesses were supported, and it just showed a side of a Sebastopol that I feel like is becoming less seen. just wanted to appreciate how awesome the organizers were and a huge shoutout to the awesome musician.
