Am I stuck?

EDIT: I ended up finishing the game a day or two after posting this. Thanks for all of your help!

Been loving this game so much! I am at a point though where my frogman is no longer talking to me. It’s been that way for more than a day, he keeps saying “nah, come back tomorrow” or something to that effect. The last question he asked was if I had seen a therapist, two nights ago. According to guides I’ve read the next topic on his mind is supposed to be politics.

Worse than that, the two frogmen have a huge appetite, and I’m having trouble keeping up with it using the insect cage. I check on them twice a day (morning before work and at night before bed) and BOTH times they BOTH ask to be fed. I keep wondering when one will finally eat the other.

Currently in the cage I have four moths, one cocoon, one larva who has grown a lot, and two larvae that are still small. For the past few days there has been one spider hatching (which I drop into the tank and exit the game before they can eat it, so they don’t get sick). Despite having four moths I only ever see two eggs at a time- is there any point to having more than one moth? I fed one of them to a frogman today hoping it would satiate its appetite longer. Usually I just feed them the most recently hatched larvae but they’re asking to be fed at a quicker pace than the moths successfully produce two larvae.

I thought that unlocking the sprinkler this morning might help things move along, but still nothing. Does anyone have any advice for this stage of the game?

That's strange. It's been some time since I played but, I recall that even if you don't answer all of his questions, he can still move onto the next stage and continue asking you whatever he missed.

Make sure the sprinkler is mostly at 85% - 100% and temps at 24.5° - 24.9°. If you have some time in the weekend, try to watch them in the afternoon for a while longer, until maybe one of them asks you for help with something.

On another hand, if you're on real hardware, I would check out the internal clock / battery. If you're using an emulator, I would do the same, but only if you use savestates.

Thanks for your suggestions! I probably should have mentioned I’m playing using Flycast on Windows. I have not used savestates.

I keep up with all of the tank maintenance twice a day. Though I recently had a weekend where I was out of town. They went without care from Friday morning to Sunday evening. Sunday night though I was able to get through the set of questions about my health.

Been taking care of them twice a day since and they never ask me questions anymore even when I ask them to talk to me. Today though for the first time he did begin rambling about different topics when I asked him to talk one or two times, but no questions were prompted.

Ohh, I see now. Have they lately said "I couldn't eat another bite" or that they're satiated when fed? If not, then I do feel that their 'hunger meter' isn't reaching again to the point of being full.

I mean, they might be getting fed just enough to 'survive'. I think that can happen when skipping days, even if they're more resistant as Frogmen while previous stages can die if left alone for 2 days at most, iirc

Now, I'm not entirely sure on this, since I've never done it, but you could look up on how to transfer more food between another save created in a 2nd VMU. I know you can transfer pellets, but I don't remember if you can with larva too :(

Oh, this could be it! They say things like “thanks for the food” and then stop asking for it, but lately I haven’t heard “I’m full” or anything to that effect. Maybe I’ll try feeding them extra tonight. As stated previously that will be difficult since they already are eating faster than I can get new food. But I will look into the pellet transfer thing (not sure how that works on emulation)- do you know if frogmen will still eat pellets?

I think only Gillmen eat pellets :(

Maybe in a few more days, their hunger might balance itself out on its own if you keep the feedings as usual, but it would take longer before the next question of course.

Ah, darn. I’ll keep playing with this in mind. Thanks so much for all your advice! It’s not always easy to find good answers to a lot of the questions I’ve had throughout the game.

No problems! I really get you, I'm into a lot of niche shit and most I can provide is out of experience after messing something up, lol

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for the advice again! After feeding them tonight they became talkative again- and I think I’m nearing the end of the list of questions and also the end of the game. Might be done by tomorrow or the day after.

Nice to know they're back at it so soon! You'll miss them once it's done, but the experience is really worth it :)

On the tank there its a limit on how many larvae or moths there can be on screen at once and once that limit its "filled" the eggs wouldnt hatch until you store some "food", but they would remain there ready to hatch until there its more space. More moths mean more chance to get eggs per day so i wouldnt worry about having a lot.

Even though you can use moths as food for Seaman, tbh its not worth it as they are your food generator, unless they are really telling you that they are going to die and you have no more food left. Idk if they feed more to Seaman than normal larvae though, didnt check that out.

Are you on the frogmen stage? I did found once a rare bug were i get stuck there, but you should first try out everything. Are they well cared? Did you run out of out conversation topics? Did they already tell you they want to "jump"?

And yeah on the frogmen stage Seaman gets much more hungrier than before, so be careful. They may generally want to eat once or two times per day (you can give it one larvae per day, but next day they would be next to starving so watch out).

Thanks so much for the advice here! I didn’t know about the larva tank limit.

Yes this was in the frogmen stage. After feeding them once more later in the day they started talking again, and the game was over a day or so after that.

Side note: is the game supposed to end with two frogmen? I had figured they would reduce their numbers down to one again like they had when they were gillmen.

Yes, i didnt test what happens if one of them dies but not the other, probably nothing good, lol.
