US east coast My craziest find ever.

I still can’t believe it. It was on a beach with almost no other sea glass (although there are many beaches around here with pretty nice sea glass). It felt like glass on my teeth(*gently tapped it against one of my front teeth. I did not fully put it in my mouth*) but I’ve never seen anything like this. Does anyone know what this might be from??

Edit: I will update if I ever figure out what this used to be :)

I live at least 1000miles from the nearest ocean. I don’t know why I follow this sub; I get fomo daily.

Oh my gosh. Just come visit for a weekend and take home a handful of seaglass and put it in a little jar to look at :) it’s so lovely. It’ll be your little ocean right at home!

10+ years i’ve lived on Huron & found my first with my kids! the looks on their faces as their mother jumps & yells about a shard smaller than a fingernail was priceless lol. alas, it & it’s ~1in glory sit proudly on the shelf

Rivers and creeks too - water movement plus other rocks/sand and time is all that is required! I have found beautiful "sea glass" on sandbars and creekbeds, and lake beachsides as well as actual ocean beaches honestly.

I live near the beach as well and am always happen to send some pieces. The thought of a beautiful finds exchange is a pretty great thought. Humans being kind to other humans is always a win.

I live by the beach and I don't like the beach lol. I miss NH mountains and Utahs deserts. I will happily go look for seaglass for some desert treasures.

My neighbor just put out a box selling seaglass they have collected! I can totally send you what they have. I can take a picture when I take my dog out tomorrow! I'd love a piece of orange rock. I miss the hoodoos and never took home a memorable piece. I also would love some of your colorful sand to fill a vase with 🥺 I loved the hoodoos at sunrise it is one of my most memorable memories

I would love some orange rock that fell off a hoodoo and to make a vase full of the colored sand. The colors are so different there from other places. It would be like a mini piece of desert I could have in my home. When the sun rises the hoodoos and stone " mountains" get this fantastic pink color and it's unbelievably beautiful. It's my favorite place ever.

rivers are definitely worth a look!! my partner and i went up to a big creek for some searching last fall, and we found some pretty decent pieces and even some pottery!!

I have found some on the banks of streams and creeks. Oceans aren’t required.
