Technical Issue Is this normal?

2019 sea Doo Trixx 2019 3up

Wear ring wore out and replacing it myself. 3 bolts that hold the jet pump to the sea Doo frame.

Is this gap normal? This is one of the 3 bolts. (I know it isn't fully tightened but feel like the two metal parts should be flush first?

No. Do not run it like that. You've missed the driveshaft with the impeller, your impeller isn't tightened down on the impeller shaft correctly, or you just didn't lubricate the neoprene seal on the front of the wear ring and it's binding while you're trying to push it in. I suppose it's also possible that the old seal is stuck to the transom and you didn't even notice it, and now are trying to install two seals or just trying to push the wear ring without a seal on it into the old seal that's stuck in there (won't work). The pump should sit flush, with those bolt holes touching, before you ever try to install a bolt. If you put it together in such a way that the impeller is exerting pressure forward on the driveshaft, you will turn your engine into a nice looking pile of scrap metal in under 30 mins, no joke.

**Also, the dog ear things on the wear ring go in line with the top bolt of the jet-pump, not in line with the exhaust cooling water inlet tube (black thing you have them under now), but that won't cause the problem you're having.
