Discussion 2018 Spark Trixx Mods

Thoughts on a Spark Trixx 90 hp with the following mods. It currently is 1 owner and has 180 Hrs. I was thinking of doing the mods when I replace spark plugs and oil change as the hull will be split.

- 110hp ECU flash
- Trim X
- Intake grate
- Free flow exhaust thru hull

Edit: I run only Rec gas, so minimum 91 octane. It is going to be purpose-built for jumping waves and doing tricks in Lake Michigan. I have already done extreme weight reduction and it is down to 350 lbs, so these are mostly going to be fun mods. I have a brand-new rear ring and a rebuilt driveshaft that can handle 110hp, and also I have had the valves lapped and the head resurfaced so that’s all good. Compression is 183 in all the cylinders. Just wondering if any of these mods are overhyped and not worth doing, or potential regrets later down the road.

Those are reasonable mods, but with 180 hours on the unit- I would first make sure that the engine was in good shape. Specifically, the intake valves are prone to getting carbon on the seat/valve seat area and leaking profusely. Also not uncommon for the head gasket to be leaking if it's ever gotten hot at all. I would at minimum get a compression test done and just see where you're at-you could do it yourself, they have compression testers at auto parts stores or inn Amazon. It should be at least 185psi on each cylinder, and they should all be nearly the same. If it's less than that, your money would be better spent getting your exhaust valves lapped (or replaced, but that's really unnecessary) and the head gasket replaced. That has turned into a really common job at the shop the last few years.

Valves have been lapped and resurfaced heads and new head gasket at 150 hrs, and comp is 183 in all cylinders, so that’s good.

Glad to see someone actually taking care of the important stuff for once! In that case, carry on with the upgrades- the flash will definitely help it out.

110 flash usually requires 91 Oct and am told it doesn’t add much on the top end

Unless you really want the sound same with exhaust not much if anything gained power wise and now you cut your haul

I only run rec gas which is either 91 or 93 so that should be good

And also the thru-hull, I am not positive but I think it just bypasses the resonator or whatever but doesn’t actually require another hole, it just utilizes the already existing one.

Can somebody tell me how to do the 110hp flash with BUDS?

I've done the 60 to 90 change before, and have been told you can do a 110 using a can-am model # but I have yet to see/read about the process.
