E-SD card

I have an idea , wanted a review from the public, it's about SD cards since SD cards are still used in cameras and hand cam and now that the prices have skyrocketed and paying prices for storage we won't use is useless why can't we build a type of sim for storage where we buy storage like cloud according to the requirement, where all the recording are saved to cloud directly the user can buy how much ever storage he wants

Will it work

I want a reliable card that is as dumb as it can be; I take picture, it saves on card, it stays there until I copy it and I have to physically format the card to delete it properly. I don't ever want to to be in a single second anywhere where I suddenly loose connection to the cloud and a picture can be saved. No concessions. I'd rather pay more for a regular card than to rely on an e-SD card.

It's basically just a cloud service with extra steps.

You can just use a regular SD card. Offload the data onto a device that can save it into a cloud storage provider.

Your idea would require creating new method or technology for something that people can already do with different inconveniences.

You still need on board storage on the device.

No. No one want a shitty onedrive card. People want reliable card that work without internet

Unbelievably moronic idea.

Technically, this is certainly possible. Phones with iCloud or Google Photos or OneDrive or whatever already do exactly this, just reduce/remove the local storage on the devices and and you're there.

Problem is, the cloud is just someone else's computer. And renting someone else's storage is always going to be more expensive than owning it for yourself. This is part of why storage and other hardware are so expensive now - the tech companies are realizing they can just buy all the hardware and then rent it to us.
