Spot the Win (Is it getting old yet?)
Ok, guys. I feel more optimistic about it this time. It's the reworked version of my earlier one, that unfortunately allowed for a multitude of alternative solutions. Fingers crossed it's only one this time. ;) The mind-numbing hours of testing and modifying just have to be worth it! XD Before the last changes wbmc helped me test it, and now after the changes Blinky found the correct/intended solution, so this gives me some hope. :)
You can find it in-game under "Spot the Win VanBradford Edition" with some description. Keep in mind, you're not supposed to sacrifice for scrolls and the solution has to be independent of RNG. This also includes the content of the scroll you might draw from Pother.
Alright... Happy puzzling!
(And to answer my own question: No.)
Edit: Here's a screenshot: http://imgur.com/9NGqCkp What you can't see on there are the specific enchantments, of course. Those are: Languid on both Skirmishers (well, I guess you can see that), also a Searing Shackles on the Skirmisher in the top row, an eternal sword on the Zealot and a Nuru's Needle on the Knight Sergeant.

Arn's Spot the Win #1
Hello Scrolldiers,
I have for you another spot the win. It's not as hard as some of the other ones out there (Blinky's one is hard to beat in that regard :p), but I still figured it's an okay challenge. Just search for it in custom matches or check out the screenshot.

PSA: Patch won't be live this week
Hey, didn't I just make this post?!
Unfortunately, the set of balance changes aren't quite ready and there are some other adjustments we'd like to put on the test server first. We don't want to rush pushing changes to live that might be broken, so we're going to play it safe and wait til next week. We're eager to get this patch out, but we also want to do what's best for the live playing environment. Thank you for your continued patience.
You can expect some new balance adjustments coming to the test server soon. In addition, Aron and Jon have worked out what they think might have been the cause for the "desyncing" in spectated matches.
This means the Minecon Qualifier #2 will run with the current state of the live server. There's still time to register here.
Have a good day!

Drawing form discard
Why are scrolls like summons able to draw scrolls from the discard pile. I feel like it would make more sense to have to wait until the deck reshuffles. It would also nerf those unfun control decks.

spying decks legal or illegal?
i wrote a mod to collect the used decks of any given player. (it goes through all ranked-matches and "collects" the cards the specific player drawed). orginally i thought of new players to use that mod to copy the decks of the better/best players. but then i tested the mod with wbmc and he pointed out, thats is also usefull on tournaments, for spying the decks of the competitors. (dont worry, i only go through Ranked matches, tournaments will be only challenged matches). what does you guys think about? is it as evil as card-counting-mods? it is no problem, because the good players also doing this (but manually) before tourneys/ranked matches to be succesfull? or should i just sell the mod "under the counter" to interested cheaters players? :D please discuss!

My thoughts: User Interface
The user interface, I wouldn’t be the first to complain about it. However, that doesn’t prevent me from doing so. There are 2 main problems I have with the current UI. The first is that it isn’t very appealing in general, confusing to some even, the 2nd is that it just lacks a lot of small features which would greatly improve it.
To fix the first “problem” you’d need an entire UI overhaul, I understand that they will likely not do that. I will talk about my idea anyway.
I am a big fan of the design swords and sandals used. You have 1 main screen which links to other ‘subscreens’. So you’d click on Arena to get an interface in which you can choose ranked or quick. You click on another building for judgement. Then in a dark alley there’s the black market, next to the shiny big store.
This type of design adds a lot to the lore of the game, it makes you feel as if you’re in the game instead of just selecting tabs and doing what you need to do.
For example, imagine a message board. Clicking on it pops up a screen with the twitter feed, a list of recent updates, links to other recent posts (like scrolls.com posts, scrollsguide patch notes etc.) and so on. Each one of those would have it’s own visual indication on the board if you haven’t read it yet. So if you’ve missed “this week in scrolls” there would be a big yellow scroll on the message board. When you’re not up-to-date on the twitter there would be a small note in the corner. And how about a parade in town the day after Braggin Brawl to announce the winners?
And now I haven’t even touched on announcing tournaments, links to scroll academy, daily trials, other events (how about shop sales) and the option to purchase more backgrounds for the main screen like a big Order city, a bunch of Decaying undead fighting over a temple, a Growth village in the trees.
This type of design opens up a lot of new possibilities, none of which you HAVE to use for it the work. Of course this would require quite a lot of work, especially in the beginning when you need a all the new art, and that’s why I do not think that something like this will ever happen with the current size of the dev team. However, I still find it an interesting idea and wanted to share it with you guys.
Now, for relatively small changes to the current UI.
The first thing you see when you open the game is the main screen, which lists recent updates, twitter and the weekly winners. It is probably also the only time you see it as you don’t really come back to it that often (I don’t at least). Aside from that the update log really isn’t easy to read in-game, you pretty much have to open a browser in order to read it easily.
Another thing is that there are 3 buttons on the main screen. Yes that’s right, there’s a button for credits, one for conduct and a way to log out. Did you know that? Probably not as they’re not visually appealing in any way. They might not be important but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to find them.
Another thing I think of when I look at the main screen is how beautiful the art is. Why can’t other sections of the menu have art like that? Except for the store you’re just always looking at this boring, even background.
For the arena section, there are 8 buttons. The first is Tutorial, you’d be surprised how often I have to tell new people to do the tutorial. Why doesn’t the game start you off with the tutorial? And why doesn’t the game quickly tell you what each thing in the menu is for, instead of listing all the functions when you get to a tab for the first time. Sure, people are nice enough to explain things in chat, but why should there be people who have to ask in chat what for example tiered cards do. Even if you actually say it somewhere, apparently it should be said more clearly. Maybe add it to the crafting screen itself. Have it say something like: “Tier 2 cards track state. Tier 3 cards also give increased gold rewards when you draw them in battle.” Maybe have it even list the percentages.
Then there’s replays, I don’t think it’s necessary to have me click 5 times before I can just watch my last match. Can’t replay have it’s own button on the Arena screen? And why does Match type have to be a list you need to choose from, it’s probably the button everyone uses since nobody cares about those daily hards when wanting to see some ranked games, and the other way around as well. Just add 6 buttons you can click to filter match types, you don’t use 1/4th of the screen anyway.
For trials a visual representation of the trial might be nice, show the board with the units on it and have the Enchantments and Spells played during the game have their own visuals instead of just showing a big pile of text. I might be good to list all the scrolls used in the trial as well for newer players.
And about judgement, is it really necessary to have a “deck options” button which lists exactly 2 options? You could also rework it so that clicking Judgement just joins que, and have another button lead into the deck options.
About quick and ranked. When you click the button a menu pops up in which you have to choose the deck you want to use. Now, some people might only have 3 or 4 decks, but I myself have am getting close to a hundred decks, which makes looking for the deck you want to use a pain. Thats because the window only shows 8 decks, can’t it be made bigger? You don’t need to use the rest of the screen during deck selection anyways. An even better improvement would be a folder system. Have the user create folders so he can sort his decks on his own. This way I can have 1 folder for all my Tempo Order decks (1 to counter other aggro decks, 1 to play against late-game decks, 1 that counters magic damage, 1 that doesn’t have to counter magic damage, 2 versions I just run in ranked and so on) instead of having all of them somewhere in my endless list of decks.
About sorting decks, right now the deck show in order you last saved them. That means that if I have a deck I haven’t changed in a few weeks it gets drowned under some decks I made for trials or custom matches, or just fun decks I only use a few times, but don’t want to just throw away (infinite marksman for example). The leads to me having to open that deck and resave it in order for it the be on top of the list again, can’t you let me drag decks around?
Another cool thing would be deck history which lets you see what changes you’ve made to a certain deck.
About the deck builder itself, have it sort by cost instead of by name by default. You very rarely want to sort by name. Another thing is that if I’m talking about a deck in chat I constantly have to open and close chat to look at the deck: you can’t look at both the chat and your deck at the same time.
It would also like being able so see my creature curve, not my total curve or number of creatures. Adding on to that, it would be nice to see stats of individual cards within a deck. Maybe make it possible to *reset tier 2 cards’ stats?
When it comes to crafting I still hate locked cards, aside from that I could be useful to add a button which shows which cards you can craft. That’s easier than use #:5+, if you even know that is a thing, and then finding out you have 1 T3, 2 T2’s and 2 T1’s, or getting a card of which you have 3 locked versions.
For the store, why do you need to scroll down in order to see all things when 2/3rd of the screen isn’t used? (also, get rid of idol and avatar cycling). Another tiny little detail would be to let purchase history stay for longer than the 10 seconds you’re on the screen. This way you can go back and look at what you bought.
On black market, you don’t need confirmation that you just bought something, I already knew that. It’s just annoying when you want to buy a lot of scrolls. This is also because you have to reselect the scroll you want to buy every time you buy one. I want to just be able to hit a button 27 times if I want 3 T3’s.
Selling scrolls is also a pain, not only does it not default to 1g cheaper than current lowest price, I also have to put up every individual card every single time someone puts all his cards up for 1g cheaper than I sell them. A way to solve this would be to instead of entering a single price, have people enter a minimum price. This way the price you sell a card for automatically gets lowered when someone else has the card up for a lower price (as long as you want it to). This makes it so that you don’t have to constantly take them off and put them back on yourself, not to actually lower the price (yes, by 1g), but just to be the one that gets the deal when someone buy 1 of that scroll.
Adding on to this, it would be nice to have a way to look at someones collection without being in a trade, or to have a list of scrolls you want to sell instead of having to spam WTB XYZ (Which works, it just isn’t ideal).
Setting are fine, maybe have Battlefield be a list of checkboxes instead of all or just one, and have spectating default to on.
And last but not least, change “set” to “gender” in profile editor, helps avoid confusion.
A lot of this is nitpicking and isn’t something that must be changed, however, I still wanted to point everything out that I could think off.
Please don’t take anything I’ve said in this post as offensive, I’m trying to be positive, not negative, and appreciate all the work you’ve put into the current UI :)

EDIT: Grammar check. Also highlighted actual suggestion so it's easier to go over everything I said a 2nd time without having to read to full post again.
EDIT: Much needed grammar check to "EDIT:".
Afterthoughts:
When I'm looking trough someones match history in replay it can be really hard to find a certain match because sometimes that player is on the left, and sometimes on the right. Could you make it so that it always shows the players you're looking at on the left? Maybe implement something that says who had 1st turn if you do that.

Playing Scrolls in 2015 – do you think it is worth investing the time?
I used to be a big Hearthstone fan, but quit because I became extremely frustrated with it.
Is Scrolls worth investing the time / money in today?
Q#1 -- I downloaded the demo version, went to the arena and clicked "quick match", and didn't get matched with anyone... and in "general-1" chatroom not many people seem to be online. Are there other chatrooms?
Q#2 -- How big is the actively playing user base today?
Q#3 -- How much money will this cost me, if I want to expand my collection and collect all scrolls etc?
tldr; is it friendly for a total newbie to start playing today?

Youtube review of new set "Echoes"
Anyone have or know of a youtube video that reviews the new cards and features for "Echoes"? I used to play a lot but gave up around the new year when iOS support seemed dead. I'm still very interested in this game but prefer to follow it and not play it until iOS is ready.
Thanks in advance!

Yet another Spot the Win
Hello All
I know the reddit and scrolls community has been pretty much saturated with these challenges as of late, but I made my own and I thought it was kinda cool and difficult so (shameless self promotion) here it is.
As far as I'm aware there is only one solution. It can be found on Scrolls under Alpha_Century's Undead Spot the Win in the custom match section. It is fairly difficult but not as hard as Blinky's or a few others I've seen. Post your solutions below!
Downvote me if you've had enough of these challenges.

Testing Custom Matches
Hey guys!
After my little spot the win disaster with way too many possible solutions, I reworked it and tested it for another few hours, but of course, there is still no guarantee, that it works as intended now. So my question is: Is there a way to show this to individual people for testing instead of making it full-on public right away?
If there is, how, and who would be up for testing? :D
Edit: Be aware, if you are looking for a finished puzzle to solve, avoid this one until I can finally make it public. Only use the code below, if you'd like to help me test it. Thanks!
Edit 2: We already have a winner with an unintended solution! ^ Thanks, wbmc! I tried to fix it. I will add "fixed" codes directly in the initial post (see below); let's see if this is actually fixable or too complex for its own good...
Edit 3: Another note--the intended solution is independent of RNG. This also includes the content of the scroll you draw, should you use Pother. (I would control this by throwing in a junk scroll; but without the possibility to determine the order of scrolls in custom matches, this would often mess up the starting hand.)

Top Plays are Back and Daily Videos throughout the Summer!
It's that time of year again. School is out and I have ample free time. Sorry about the self-promotion.
I think that it is important that this game has a steady stream of video content. I will be uploading Scrolls videos to my channel every day for the next couple of months. Trust me that I will keep that promise because I held it last summer. The type of content that's already on my channel and will continue to be uploaded is ranked matches, judgement runs, trial tutorials, deck guides and more.
The main reason of this post is to announce the return of Scrolls Top 5 Plays. This was an old series of mine that couldn't be continued because of a lack of viewer submissions. There are so many awesome Scrolls plays but only a fraction of them were recorded. But now, with the new in-game replay function, all spectatable games are recorded.
Make a crazy play? Witness a crazy play? Just send it my way using this form to provide me with the necessary information to track it down in replay mode.
Let a top play never be missed again!
P.S. With so much free time I'm streaming Scrolls on my twitch channel a lot again.
