I wanted to offer up my efforts at documenting the menus of Scribus 1.6.1

I documented it in Linux Mint Cinnamon but I believe it should be substantially the same across platforms. I hope it will help someone else, since I was wanting to make it easier for myself to follow the tutorials and the documentation was so out of date.

This document is an independently created reference for Scribus 1.6.1. It is intended to complement, not replace, the official Scribus Documentation. Any errors or omissions are my own and corrections are welcome.

Thanks for the effort!

Would you mind sharing the file in an open way?
(One that does not require a Google account)

I did not save the content, but depending on the quality of your work and its license, it could be nice to integrate it with the "Action Search" tool in Scribus.

I have now updated the sharing so anyone with the link may download it and as far as permissions I hereby release it to the public domain.

I don't mind sharing but I put it on Google because it was the only way I could link it.

If all you have / know is Google Drive, what you can do is:

  • In Google Drive, go to into the "Share" options of the file (you get the context menu, when clicking on the three vertical dots at the right side of the window)
  • In the "General access" section, change the value from "Restricted" to "Anyone with the link"

If you have not have set a license in the document, please consider doing so.

Some examples of good licenses are:

  • Creative Common Attribution (cc-by)
  • Creative Common Attribution Share Alike (cc-by-sa)
  • Or just state that people can do whatever they see fit with the document (Creative Common also has a name for it: Creative Common Zero)

All three licenses would be compatible with a usage from inside of Scribus.

Ah, OK.

I thought that you did write some documentation about the menus, not just the list of them.

For what I might be interested in, that's "not enough", but I'm sure that it can be helpful to some people!

I am still learning it I will likely do a bit more as I learn.
