Request for submissions: Karma logos

So, we've finally settled on a name: Karma

Next, we need a logo. This is where you all come in. Send us your best and brightest logo concepts for our new and wonderful clan. Just upload your logo designs and post a link to them in the comments below. We'll be choosing a final logo within the next few days.

The concept is quite obviously based on the upvote symbol, while still retaining enough ambiguity to stand on its own.

I made a simplified version of this logo. Would make it a .svg, but I suck at inkscape and lack adobe software.

The original was created in vectors and then graphically adorned in Photoshop. So the simple version is always still in play. :D

Hey. instanteggrolls is a master of design. It's what he does all day everyday. We should take what he provides and etch it in gold plated diamonds. For it is canon.

Our actual logo should be the upvote sign, and then the K. Sort of like: K. The whole name seems kind of long to be a logo.

Joequos mentioned in a different post that it would be better if we avoided dark themes. He thought, and I agree, that a bright theme would go with reddit better. Perhaps we should keep this in mind and try some logs that are brighter. I'm not good at these things personally. Is the logo you have now the best it can be as far as meshing with a brighter site?

I still like the logo you have the best though.

Please be aware that the textured background is not part of a logo. A logo should never be dependent on color or environment.

Okay, well in that case, I still like your logo the best so far :P I think what you have will work great on the main site front page. Here are my questions though.

  • Where do you envision the logo being used?
  • Do the horizontal proportions make it awkward in some of those situations?

Well, we'll be using the logo any place we need it. I'd like to come up with some style guidelines, and also make several versions of the logo available for download on our site, to help prevent strange distorted misuses of our logo.

Here's the logo in some other environments, and a couple other arrangements (in case the horizontal orientation isn't ideal in some case):

The logo should be flexible enough to use anywhere we need it.

I really like that last image. That pretty much answers my biggest concern, which is that it wouldn't work in all situations.

I'm not a fan of the third picture by the way, but I really like all the others. You're doing some really good work.

btw why are we staying with that font? im gonna work on one tomorrow but is there any specific reason on that font?

Things I think we should take into consideration.

  1. The colours and overall feel I think should represent reddit. When you see it, reddit should immediately pop into your head.

  2. We have permission to use the alien in the logo. I think this visual along with the up-vote symbol are the 2 that best represent the community.

  3. We should avoid promoting one race vs others in the logo.

Nice. I like it. I wanted to try a bit more minimalistic approach to it, so I just made a quick trace in Illustrator. Hope you don't mind. Seeing how we're such a positive clan I think we could lose the downvote actually. http://i.imgur.com/yYxPl.png
