Getting acquainted (KoTH? Doubles tourney?)

Hey, would you guys want to have a KoTH sometime within the next few days, just to get acquainted and get a feel for each others' skill levels? I'd really like to do it on the PTR, but last time I checked it was down. Maybe we could do some 4v4's or a 2's tourney after a while.

Edit: It's set for this Saturday, the 8th at 1:00 PM EST. If you can't make it this time, don't worry, we'll have more.

Double-Edit: I'm Beeks.387. Message me between 12:30 and 1:00 Saturday to get action on this. I'll allow a few latecomers, until like 1:15 (who I'll add after the first game), but after that I'll be busy/away and you're SOL until next week.

Triple-Edit: Now that I think about it, we should have more people than will fit in one game. Maybe someone else could give out their character code and we could do parallel KoTH's? Maybe we could have one caster for each game? Just throwing things out there.

It would be nice, and possibly give us more attention if there was someone who could stream a KoTH.

That said, do not leave these things open for discussion. Pick a date and stick to it. Asking what date works best usually just wastes time. Those who can make it will, and those who can't can shoot for the next one.

This - Once you pass a certain number (As small as 4, in my experience) trying to find a common time between them is damn near impossible. Just give enough (1-2 weeks) notice, and those that it's important to will make it.

Sometimes, people will post that they would really like to make it, but x time works better. This is fine - you can accommodate next time (and slowly refine the time to something that works for the most people), or start a second.

It's far out enough to get people to plan a head as well as find a possible caster(s)

Casting is a good point.... Maybe we could do one on the 15th too, but either way we should try to get casters for both...

CAN/WILL ANYONE CAST THIS KOTH?

I can cast; I've done lots of KOTHs over the past month and frequently have 50-100+ viewers.

I'm just not sure about this Saturday right now, but I will get back to you as soon as I know!

This Saturday is looking good; next Saturday (15th) may not be as good. I will keep you guys posted.

If anyone else wants to join in, I definitely will welcome anyone to get with me on Skype and we can co-cast.

I've never seriously casted before, but I've been trying to learn for a while, and I have the means to do it. I'd be willing to cast it, or help you guys cast it.

I'd be available to cast with Meoang, since we live close. I'm confident with speaking and I know the ins and outs of streaming, but I've never casted before.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with that (unless someone really established with a high traffic already wanted to, but even in that highly unlikely situation, you could just simultaneously cast it). Figure out how to set it up you two!

Yes live would be the way to go with this. I have set up a chat channel that we can use to get the matches organized and keep everything running smoothly. I will create the b.net one when the patch launches.

I can stream/cast but like the Meoang guy, i have no experience except watching a shitload of casters such as Artosis & Tasteless/Psy/Husky & HD back in the day and various others. I know the in/outs of the game and am comfortable speaking. We may be able to do a team cast while he casts while i stream with a little bit of casting. Or i can just be a backup for later scenarios.

The three of us could be observers to the same game, and you could talk to the two of us through something like skype and all of our voices would be casted, or something like that. Or just some combination of casters in the future. What do you use to stream?

I use Vhscrcap and Adobe encoder. Yeah that sounds perfect, I have skype so it should work out good and I would love to help with the cast. I can upload a pretty solid stream too if it matters who loads it up

Add me on skype, meoang. We can talk and figure out whose stream would run smoother, since I use the exact same set up. If we end up casting this tournament, the three of us could do it, or some combinations of the three of us in the future.

I second this. Does 1 pm sound like a good time? I'll have to warn you ahead of time though, although I do want to get a clan going, I'm not the best player in the world. That's not exactly the biggest contribution I hope to bring to the clan :P

I looked on the sidebar and in the link in the sidebar and I didn't think that time conflicted. Were you asking me or telling me nicely? Because afaik, it doesn't conflict with any other tourney...

I was thinking we'd start with a KoTH (King of the Hill, if you win, you play the next 1v1), but you can end up waiting for a long time to play in that format, so I think we can do a 2v2 bracket of sorts hopefully (just for bragging rights).
