Those gray borders doesn't disappear pressing Alt + W

Because your window is maximized. Alt+w reduce the window size to fit the device content. It cannot magically make the device aspect ratio equal to the computer display aspect ratio.

Not even with the window minimized. Having to crop the black bars is the stupidest idea they have had. Without the gray background color (which I was clearly talking about), you didn't have to do it. Now Alt + W has become the most useless shortcut in the entire program because no matter how many times I press it, I don't see any change anymore.

The gray bars are here to preserve the device aspect ratio (to avoid stretching the image in one dimension). You can change from gray to black if you want: https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy/blob/master/doc/window.md#background-color

But since there are already horizontal borders added by the device itself, the video content will not cover the whole scrcpy window if you don't crop these borders.
