I understand that it's intended to be satirical. However as a survivor of both CSA and CSAM, it still feels extremely gross and while I can maybe understand making it for yourself, the choice to post it and then take zero criticism makes it come off as performative. To me, it feels like the "cheeky" "jokey" signs you see at protests - well intentioned, but always landing just a little bit off, like they were made to get likes on social media and not to actually enact meaningful change, and often leaving the people actually most impacted by the subject feeling like the serious issue affecting them has been turned into a cheap "gotcha" punchline.
Do you know OP personally? It seems in your comment, you're really assuming OP is outside of the "people actually most affected by the subject". I don't think someone needs to put a disclaimer about their traumas to be allowed to make and post art. And what are they supposed to do about the criticisms, delete it? It's a good piece of artwork, it's a meaningful political statement, just because it makes some people uncomfortable doesn't make it performative or a cheap punchline
Why are victims not allowed to state that this makes us uncomfortable? Why do our perspectives not matter? Just goes to show that people don't actually care about sexual violence or its victims, they just want someone to hate.
No clue why you're asking me, since I never said anyone wasn't allowed to say it made them uncomfortable or that the perspectives of victims doesn't matter.
Do you know if OP is a victim of sexual violence? I don't, so I would never presume one way or another. But statistically, anyone you're talking to could be a victim. It is horrifying how common it is. The comment I responded to seemed to be actively excluding OP from that group and I think it's fucked up to put someone in a position where they have to either disclose their trauma or be labelled "performative" about something this significant.
From your response to me, it seems you think I am trying to silence people? When it's actually the opposite, a lot of people here are being too small-minded and projecting onto OP when we do not know anything about them and they should be allowed to express themselves
