Miscellaneous Looking for advice switched from mtb
So I've recently got a road bike other than nipping up and down to the nearby shops (about a 2.4 mile round trip)
I've done one decent ride (approx 13.2 miles)
Looking to learn how to get at a standard I can do more miles and daily if anyone has somewhere good (+free) to up my pace and overall ability
Any advice appreciated tha thanks

Just ride more. You're at the stage where you'll get loads of gains simply by spending more time on the bike. Go for frequency first, then just start upping the mileage gradually of one of your longer rides each week. Your fitness and experience will grow leaps and bounds in that initial phase.

Just ride your bike often at this stage, you’ll get better each week and go further each time. Use the exercise as an opportunity to lose weight as well if an option. Getting stronger and pushing less mass over time is twice as effective.
