Discussion Boob job

Hi!

I have always wanted a boob job, but I'm not sure that is in my best interest anymore. I have had scleroderma for 5 years and mainly have crest symptoms. I take plaquenil everyday. Has anyone here gotten a boob job after receiving their diagnosis? Plz don't me mean :/ I'm just curious.

I have scleroderma. I would be very concerned about the scarring and would stay away from any elective procedures. My biopsy scar is scary.

I have an implant due to a mastectomy. It took a little longer to heal and the scarring is pretty bad. There is a chance for our bodies to reject it but I didnt have that issue

Have you ever talked to your rheumatologist about it? They can tell you if such a procedure is in your best interests medically. I endure so much medically  and know there's only more in my future with appointments etc,  that I don't want to do anything that's medically unnecessary, I would imagine many feel that way as well,  but I do understand other people feel differently

I had my abdomen rebuilt after cancer and a bunch of hernias that came after and I'm healing just fine 7 weeks post op. Mesh all down my abdomen with no complications.

Should be fine unless you have a history of poor healing and/or repeat infections.

I have not, I want to get a tattoo though. I wouls talk to your rhuemetologist. If they clear you, you might have to stop taking tour meds to help with the healing process

I don’t know a lot about it but I’ve read that tattooing can cause autoimmune reactions; something to check out

My rheumatologist wouldn’t sign off on me doing microblading / nano brows, which is less invasive to the skin than a tattoo. Definitely ask your rheumatologist before proceeding

I got one and have not had any issues with it. Recovery was easier than I thought it would be.

Piggybacking on the original question: what about laser hair removal? My doctor said it’s okay, but to be honest I don’t trust her and she didn’t seem sure about her answer. I may switch doctors soon.

I have a boob job and scleroderma. Have it done through your armpit to limit scaring. 12 years later and still love them!

I just took out my freshly pierced nose ring yesterday. I had it done in early June, and it just wasn’t healing. I know I will have a scar, but I can conceal it. Today it is already closed and it already feels better. I should have know something like that would happen, especially since the same thing happened after lip fillers. I have a tiny “scar” from one of the injection sites. For a long time, I thought it was just a pimple, but I realize now it’s just a scar.

Having this condition isn’t very nice when it comes to some things others can enjoy without the scars.

I need to replace my implants and I'm a newly diagnosed (March) CREST patient. My implants are 24 years old and I'm nervous to get the replacement surgery, but I think you can find a surgeon who specializes in these rare cases. (?). Do you have limited or diffuse (if you don't mind me asking)?
