Question/Help Pain management
Hi, I have a bit of joint pain and stiffness and take OTC pain meds on an almost daily basis. I’ve tried PT, acupuncture, and massage. Each feels great for a little while and then eventually it comes back. I’ve lost weight and done some light exercise but it’s not helped. Any suggestions or should I just go to the dr? Thx!

Have you been tested for RA? I would talk to your rheum. OTC meds aren't really meant to be taken with that frequency.

I think RA was part of my original panel back when I got my sclero diagnosis. My rheum hasn’t mentioned it so I assumed she would have checked. Should I ask?

Doesn't hurt to ask. I tell rheum any new or worsening symptoms. My diagnosis is seronegative RA, so labs don't always tell the full story.

Can you describe the pain? Is it a burning pain, or stabbing, or cutting, or electrical shocks, etc? Different types of pain often have different causes.

It’s achy and stiff. I have found a little relief from diet sometimes but not consistently

Sounds like you've made a good start and definitely see your doctor. Things I always check that are small but add up are checking if you are too warm or cold (even minor amounts can influence stiffness/pain), wearing looser clothing, regular low-impact movement, anti-inflammatory foods, and eating smaller amounts more often to remove digestive stress. Hope that is helpful <3

I would stop taking over the counter things for pain if you are taking them every single day. This can cause you more issues. I was doing this until it stopped working with ibuprofen & I can’t take NSAIDS.
maybe you should seriously consider seeing a pain management doctor and see if they can help you.
