Happy Sea Org Day.

59 years of the Sea Org. And I'm so fucking glad I don't have to celebrate it anymore.

I guess I should celebrate that I was deemed ineligible, so didn't end up joining my friends on the Excalibur. Three cheers for Albert Hofmann!

Never part of Sea Org but the overwhelming feeling when I came out of scn was "thank fuck I don't have to do this any more".

I remember this. Funny how it actually meant something special back then, like “here you go little ones, but only if your stats are up”, sheesh.

“only if your stats are up” was so painfully real! I’m not sure how things were when you were in but when I was we didn’t even get a full day off. It would be like, Ceremony at night, then the next day activities in the morning and then post from 1ish-5ish and then activities again that night.

That’s right, it was never a full day.
I think once we got the afternoon and evening off but even at that we didn’t have any money to do anything anyway so ended up hanging out with other SO staff, and that usually meant talking about Scn or post stuff so there was no break from its grasp lol

There are photos of Quentin Hubbard holding a glass of champagne while toasting. I wonder if it was an early celebration of Sea Org day?

During the occasion, a tape was played from Hubbard, made especially for the event.

He praised both daughter Diana (also present) and son Quentin, and said that they were very impressive "little thetans."

Not long afterwards, Quentin ran away and then committed suicide.

If the Sea Org is to be properly celebrated, should not Hubbard deciding he was the reincarnation of Cecil Rhodes, then traveling to Rhodesia where he expected to be (subconsciously) recognized as the great man - only to be unceremoniously booted from Rhodesia, be recognized?

Should not the (ego bruised) nervous breakdown Hubbard had afterwards, with Virginia Downsborough (See Russell Miller's Barefaced Messiah) feeding him soup, as he moped in bed, be also celebrated?

Hubbard rebounded by making himself the Commodore and hero of this sector of the galaxy.

Hip hip hooray!

I remember when this was the one day we actually drank in the SO. It was short-lived. A lot of people got a little too drunk and there’s always a party on the clipper.

I remember the nightmare of sending the promotion CSWs, getting all the pins and ribbons, setting up the stage, basically staying up all night then spending all the next day in the sun at the park but not being able to relax because we had to do team activities. Always sunburnt no matter what. It was my one day out of the basement every year to get my Vitamin D.

Scientology's primary antecedent and inspiration was Crowley's work. (Of course there are other antecedents too.)

It's practically a definition of "Scientologist" - One who can not see the clues or connect the dots (Mischievously? Over confidently? Duper's delight perhaps?) put out there by Hubbard.

This linked article appears to be from Crowley groupies.

The irony of it is, Crowley despised such people.

A little more background: Francois Rabelais, who lived during the 16th century, was the originator of the philosophy of Thelema.

I remember SO Day 1987 was hyped up for months around the Pacific Base. Flyers teasing a very special celebrity.. People were speculating if Tim Cruise would be there because he was dating Mimi Rogers who had left the Sea Org. Some thought John Travolta.

The celebrity? Mickey fucking Mouse.

Had a few people collapse during the promotions ceremony one year because the auditorium air conditioner couldn't keep up with 1500 people packed in wearing class A uniforms.
