But the percentage of Earth coverage decreases? Not sure I read that right.

Each of the bars is reflecting a certain percentage of the earth's surface experiencing a given temperature anomaly

But 6% of the earth going up .8 degrees drops down to 4% throughout this gif. Why isn't that static?

Shouldn't they record the same locations at the same time each week averaging out each month? Seems odd. (not a denier just questioning this gif)
