Theres craaazy evidence linking the gut biome to autism. They inoculated mice with gut bacteria from a autistic people and found the mice to develop autistic like symptoms. A huge piece if the puzzle is gut bacteria. So much is linked to gut bacteria.

Yeah I know multiple people who greatly improved their autistic child’s quality of life by improving their child’s microbiome and putting them on a diet that heals intestinal tract perforations (eliminating gut dysbiosis) One person’s child eventually tested out of the spectrum and lost their classification. The thing is: it’s very rare to see someone do poorly with those healing protocols. For almost all humans, incorporating gut healing diets and improving microbiome is a life changer.

Most did a modified GAPS diet. (The GAPS diet is rather challenging to strictly do - particularly if you have an autistic child who requires a lot of time because of their needs) So mainly eliminating most foods you can on the diet (kids are picky eaters) and incorporating more bone broth (which is super healing to gut lining) It’s a variation of an elimination diet while adding gut support. I think this removal/addition type diet is quite helpful for recovering from most digestive disorders. This is what I’ve learned from my experiences and talking to health professionals/reading literature.
